VISIT MWANZA
Mwanza District is a small but important district in the Southern Region of Malawi. Covering 756 square kilometers — just 0.67% of Malawi’s land area — Mwanza is the third smallest district after Chiradzulu and Likoma.
Despite its size, Mwanza plays a big role. It shares borders with Neno to the North-East, Chikwawa to the South, and Mozambique to the North-West, making it a key link for cross-border trade and travel.
The district lies about 104 km north of Blantyre, Malawi’s main commercial city, and 320 km south of Lilongwe, the capital. Mwanza is easily accessible via the M6 road from Mkulumadzi Bridge, making it a true gateway between Malawi and Mozambique.
